Letters to Juliet

On Tuesday, May 18, 2010, I went to see the film Letters to Juliet, starring Amanda Seyfried.

This story is about Sophie, who's a fact checker, aspiring writer, who goes on a holiday with her fiancee to Verona, hoping to spend some time together with him.

The boyfriend, Vincent, however is too occupied to give Sophie his time as he's too pre-occupied with the opening of his restaurant, and checking out recipes, wines, cheeses, etc. They basically spend the holiday apart.

Sophie however, comes across this wall where women write letters to Juliet about love, asking for her advice. She sees this woman, after the wall has "closed" come and take all the letters away in a basket. She follows her and discovers that there are these women who respond to the letters that have return addresses on them and they call themselves Juliet's secretaries.

Upon spending a few days with Juliet's secretaries, Sophie comes across a letter addressed to Juliet that was dated in 1957. An unanswered letter for so long. So she does respond to the letter. Within a few days, a young man and his grandmother show up asking about the letter and they are off to find this older woman's lost love.

A truly touching movie, a bit of of a chick flick, perhaps cheesy at parts, but a nice movie that's relaxing. I enjoyed it thoroughly. A must see for sappy movie lovers, people who are looking for a movie on a date, or just a date to renew the spark (like married couples do - some of them - who go on dates).

Gainsbourg: Vie Héroique

On Thursday, May 13, 2010, I went to see the movie Gainsbourg: Vie Héroique.

This movie is based on the life of Serge Gainsbourg, famous French songwriter, seducer, playboy who worked with many big names such as Brigette Bardot and also had flings with them.

This movie captures the essential parts of his life and certain scandals that happened with his life. I don't know much about him and I don't know much about his music, but it was a pleasant film.

Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky

On Tuesday, May 11, 2010 I went to see the movie Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky. The movie is based on a novel and the story is about Coco Chanel's affair with Igor Stravinsky in the late 1910s and early 1920s.

The acting was okay. I don't know how much truth this movie has in the real life. An artistic film.

Ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-oooh oh oh oh oh... Caught in a bad romance...

Today, I called *Raoul innocently because I wanted to see what he was doing at around 8:30 p.m.. If he were free, I would invite him to dinner with my friend. However, when he answered the phone, he was in Old Montreal on a date...

Thinking that he was rebounding from the breakup with *Rupert, I pressed for details... To my dismay/surprise/insert whatever word here, Raoul was on a date with Rupert... So, we are back to square one...

So, I have two videos to commemorate this occasion: These videos are music videos to comment on their "relationship":

Clip 1 and Clip 2

They are moving to Ottawa/Gatineau anyway, so... They can drive each other crazy.

Chloe

On Tuesday, May 4, 2010, I went to see the movie Chloe featuring Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore.

The story is about Julianne Moore's character, Dr. Catherine Stewart, suspects that her husband, Dr. David Stewart - a music professor, to be cheating on her. It all starts when he misses a plane from New York to be back to Toronto. Catherine organized this huge party for him that he misses. She sees his text the next day from his student, a young university age student who thanks him for last night.

In order to see whether or not her husband is indeed cheating, she hires an escort, Chloe, to do her bidding. The story continues with Catherine learning about raunchy details of seduction...

How does it all end? You'll have to watch the movie to find out. I recognized a lot of the spots in the movie because the movie was shot in Toronto.
