50/50

Oops, I forgot about this post...  On Tuesday, November 22, 2011, I went to see the movie 50/50 featuring Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anjelica Houston and Bryce Dallas Howard.

The movie is about a young man who learns that he has cancer.  This character is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his character's name is Adam.  Adam's best friend, played by Seth Rogen, is named Kyle.  Adam's girlfriend, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, is named Rachael.

The story follows Adam's diagnosis of cancer, his chemo treatment and the story of his cancer.  You'll have to watch to see what happens.

LIke Crazy

On Tuesday, November 29, 2011, I went to see the movie Like Crazy featuring Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones.

The story is about a young couple who met in university and are very much in love.  The young lady is visiting LA on a student visa.  Instead of heading home when she was supposed to, she overstays her welcome and then is not let back into the country when she tries to come back a few months later.

This starts the story of their trial and tribulation of trying to keep the relationship going.  Do they succeed in the end?  You'll have to watch to find out.  This film is disguised as a light film...  It is not, viewer beware!

Though I have to say that certain lessons are to be learned from this movie:

1) Don't fuck with immigration;
2) Delayed gratification is good;
3) Open relations are probably not the greatest of ideas.

Monsieur Lazhar

On Tuesday, November 8, 2011, I went to see the movie Monsieur Lazhar.  This is a Quebecois movie about an Algerian refugee, who has fled his home country and taken an apartment in MontrĂ©al, who took over a teaching gig as a replacement in an elementary school because the teacher that the students had before hand committed suicide in the classroom that the children were in.

This is a funny movie, but with lots of dramatic parts and it looks at how a teacher has rapport with his students.  Granted of course, Monsieur Lazhar was not a teacher in his former country, but his wife was.  He did a good job, I think, to teach the students.

I found the film hilarious because I am teacher and I live the QEP.  Some of the little parts of the movie, I actually laughed quite heartily because the character was trying to understand the QEP.

A touching and fun movie.  The storytelling is great and this is a highly enjoyable and heartwarming film.  Worth the time to watch it.

Puss in Boots

On Tuesday, November 1, 2011, I went to see the movie Puss in Boots, featuring the voice work of Antonio Banderas, Selma Hayek and other famous Hollywood actors.

The movie is about the origins of Puss in Boots, who starred in the Shrek 2, Shrek 3 and Shrek 4 movies.  His childhood, how he met certain people and his quest for the magic beans and the giant beanstalk were also parts of the movie.

However, the beans are presently in the possession of Jack and Jill so Puss has to take possession of the beans, along with the help of Kitty Softpaws, another feline thief.

The movie was very clever and very very funny.  I really enjoyed myself.
