Comme Un Chef

On Tuesday, March 27, 2012 I went to see the movie Comme Un Chef featuring Jean Reno, Michaël Youn, Pierre Vernier, Raphaëlle Agogué et Julien Boisselier.  The movie is about Boisselier's character, the CEO of a chain of restaurants, and Jean Reno's character (Alexandre Lagarde) who do not get along.  He wants to muscle him out so that he can bring in a chef who's cheaper and who specializes in molecular cuisine.

However, as part of his task of coming up with a new menu for his restaurant, he stumbles across Michaël Youn's character, who's a fan of Alexandre's recipes, and they form a team for the restaurant.

A fun film that is incredibly funny.  Jean Reno was excellent in his role.  Of course, there were a few cute French men in it...  I particularly like Julien Boisselier.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

On Tuesday, March 20, 2012, I went to see the movie Salmon Fishing in the Yemen featuring Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristen Scott Thomas.

The movie is about Sheikh Muhammed, who wanted to bring the sport of salmon fishing to his country of Yemen.  However, to do that, he needs to enlist the help of his investing assistant, Harriett, played by Blunt.  Hariette calls upon the assistance of Dr. Alfred Jones to make the project happen.

Of course, during the development of the story, other things happen as well.  But essentially, it is about one's dream of fly fishing in Yemen.

Kristen Scott Thomas plays the character of Patricia Maxwell, who is responsible for press with the government.  She was hilarious in her role.

The Lorax

On Tuesday, March 13, 2012, I went to see the movie The Lorax, which is based on the book by Dr. Seuss.

The story is about a kid who learns from his neighbour, whom he has a crush on, about trees.  He presently lives in a town that has everything made of plastic.  The people buy bottled air to use in their homes.  So, this little kid, whose name is Ted, goes out of his city and into the wild to find the truth about trees.

A really nicely animated feature which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I could have used a bit more rhyme, but it was very well done.

The Iron Lady

On Friday, March 9, 2012, I went to see the movie The Iron Lady.  This movie is based on the life of Margaret Thatcher, Britain's longest serving Prime Minister and Britain's first female Prime Minister.

I don't know much about the reign of Thatcher.  So, seeing the movie was interesting, but I don't know if it was very accurate.  I thought the make-up was very well done.  This movie featured many big stars, but mostly Meryl Streep, whom I believe did a very good job of playing the character.

I think I would have enjoyed the movie more, or I would have been able to realize how good of a performance (or not) Streep had if I had known more about Margaret Thatcher.

Happy ending, crappy parenting

I stumbled across this link while looking around at news.

All I can say is...  Wow...  I cannot believe that this child's parents left those strong magnetic balls lying around.  I think that the packaging of those things state that children under the age of x should not be playing with them...
