Mirror Mirror

On Tuesday, April 24, 2012, I went to see the movie Mirror Mirror featuring Julia Roberts, Lily Collins and Nathan Lane.

The story is about an evil queen, played by Roberts, who takes over a kingdom after the king disappears.  Everything is consumed by greed.  She taxes and taxes while the people are starving.  Her stepdaughter, Snow, is locked in a tower.

Eventually, Snow is exiled, only to stumble across seven dwarves who are bandits.  The evil queen wants to trick a young handsome prince into marrying her to solve her kingdom's troubles of money and Snow is going to stop the evil queen.  What happens?  Well, you kind of know the story, as it is based on the fairy tale, but there's a small twist in this one.  Highly enjoyable and the musical performance at the end of the movie is delightful.

This is a Disney flick, as Alan Menken is involved in the music.

Wrath of the Titans

On Tuesday, April 10, 2012, I went to see the movie Wrath of the Titans in IMAX 3D.  This movie features Sam Worthington, Rosamund Pike, Liam Neelson, Ralph Fiennes and other stars.

Worthington plays Perseus, the son of Zeus.  After his first victory, he decides to live a simple life as a fisherman in a village with his son, Helios.  However, Zeus (played by Neelson) visits Perseus and asks him for assistance as there is a storm brewing and Kronos is being freed.

In order to try and stop Kronos, Zeus tries to re-conciliate with Hades, his brother, played by Fiennes, whom he had banished so long ago to the underworld.  However, his own son, Ares, betrays him and chains him up so that Kronos can zap his power.

What happens?  You'll have to see the movie to find out.
