Le Gros Jambon

Le Gros Jambon is situated in Old Montreal, at 286 Notre Dame West in Montreal.

It is a diner with a mixture of old school diner stuff and some 90s stuff.  It's offers diner fare, but with a twist...  They have breakfast, burgers, etc.

The prices, in my opinion, are a bit high for what one would get.  Yes, they have these home made potato pancake/hash browns...  And they offer a very unique fried chicken with waffle, which costs $16 + tax and tip, so in terms of a twist on the standard brunch fare, that's pretty good.

And that's where it stops.

Everything else is terrible.  I had horrible service, my server gave me attitude when I asked politely for a menu so that I could bring it to my seat with my friends (I arrived late).  The guy must have worked at Ben's Delicatessen before it closed down...

And on top of it, the coffee is not included in the already high prices for food.  You have to pay $1.95 (so $2) for a coffee...  I ordered the standard breakfast, two eggs with ham/sausage or bacon with hash browns and toast.  $11.

Not amused.  Save your money and go somewhere else.  Or only for special occasions - like on your birthday and you try the fried chicken with waffles...  Once.

What the heck?!!

I just found out that the Interim Mayor of Montreal, Michael Applebaum, has been arrested by UPAC police officers.

Why would someone take on the interim mayorship even if they had done crap that could be found out and lead to an arrest?!!

We have now gone through two mayors in the past six months or so...

42

On Tuesday, June 11, 2013, I went to see the movie 42.

This movie is about the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team and their transition with Jackie Robinson, the first African-American baseball player.  This movie is based upon his life and not an autobiographical movie.

I am not a huge fan of sports movies, but this movie was amazing!  It was done very very well.  The acting, the storyline, the racial prejudice in the movie...  It was all very well done!  This is a must-see, because it really shows the audience just how much racism prevailed during that time...  And how Jackie Robinson struggled to break that race barrier in major league baseball.

Molière à Bicyclette

On Tuesday, June 4, 2013, I went to see the movie Molière à Bicyclette.  This movie features Fabrice Luchini and Lambert Wilson.  These two play actors that are friends and one of them tries to pitch the idea of doing a play - Les Misanthropes by Molière.  However, one of the two isn't really interested in returning to the scene so he gets off on the power he has over the other one.

What happens?  You will have to watch to find out.  However, this is a comedy and there were quite a few clever lines and funny lines in it.

The original title of the movie was called Alceste à Bicyclette.  They changed the title in Québec, forsome  reason.
