On Tuesday, April 20, 2013, I went to see the movie
Pacific Rim. I had the pleasure of seeing it in IMAX 3D.
This movie is about a war between humans and kaiju. Giant monsters are coming through tectonic plates and destroying cities. Humans are fighting back with giant robots, or jaegers. However, the storyline at the movie is that the kaiju are learning the defences of the jaegers and so the world has decided to go for another approach, the coastal wall program. Yet, they saw that the kaiju just clawed through the coastal wall in Australia, so essentially people feel a bit helpless and desperate.
It was decided that the last ditch effort of the Jaeger program was to go through the rift between the two worlds and detonate a bomb so that the portal between our world and the Kaiju world would collapse.
What occurs? You'll have to watch the movie to find out!
There is lots of eye candy to see in this movie and Guillermo del Toro does a good job of weaving a story just enough to not get in the way of all the action, but enough to satisfy the mind.
