Into The Woods

On Tuesday, December 30, 2014, I went to see the movie Into the Woods, featuring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, James Corden and Johnny Depp.  There were many other well known actors in this movie as well.

This movie is about a childless baker and his wife, played by Emily Blunt and James Corden.  In order to reverse a curse that was put on their house and not having children, they are tasked with gathering four items for the witch that put the curse before the next Blue Moon.  The four items that they must get are:

1) A cow as white as snow;
2) A cape as red as blood;
3) Hair that's as golden as corn;
4) A slipper as pure as gold.

Do they succeed?  You'll have to watch the movie to find out.  An original story that links four fairy tales...

And oh...  It's a musical.  So, be prepared for signing.

The Good Lie

On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, I went to see the movie The Good Lie featuring Reese Witherspoon.

The movie is about Sudanese refugees, torn apart by civil war.  This particular story is about five siblings that were together when they were trying to flee the war.  They ended up in the refugee camp and after thirteen years, they finally get "adopted" to Kansas City.  However, they get separated because the sister could only find a family that would take her in Boston.

What happens?  You'll have to watch it to find out.  I didn't find that it was that emotional, but I can see that it could be.  So, you might need to bring some facial tissues.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part 1)

On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, I went to see the movie The Hunger Games:  Mockingjay (Part 1).  It featured Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Julianne Moore.

The movie is the first part of the third book of The Hunger Games series.  This story continues from where the second movie leaves off, which is after the tributes are summoned to the Quarter Quell, where all previous winners' names are put back into the draw.

Katniss Everdeen was rescued, and the people in District 13 want to use her as a symbol for the rebellion, the Mockingjay.  President Snow is trying very hard to quell the rebellions, because he wants to rule with an iron first, from the Capitol, or District 1.

What happens?  You'll have to watch the movie to find out.

The Theory of Everything

On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, I went to see the movie The Theory of Everything featuring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.

This movie is based upon the life of Stephen Hawking, the great physicist who got diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease, which is in the same family as ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

A movie that is very well done.  Lots of drama and romance, a few nice funny lines.  Eddie Redmayne played a great part.  I hope he gets at least an Oscar nod.
