Night Song (Mobile Étoile)

On Tuesday, March 29, 2016, I went to see the movie Night Song (Mobile Étoile in French).  The story is about two musicians who are part of les Cantiques, a choir, looking for a subvention to continue their creation of music.  However, due to budget cuts, they have to jump through many hoops to try and get it.  To add to the intrigue of the story, they are trying to hunt down a piece called Mobile Étoile that was never digitized.

What happens in the end?  You'll have to watch the movie to find out.  The music intertwined with the story line was nice.

Race

On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, I went to see the movie Race, featuring Stephen James and Jason Sudeikis.

The movie is based on the story of Jesse Owens, who won four Olympic gold medals in Track and field events at the 1938 Berlin summer Olympics.  Owens (played by James) was couched by Larry Snyder (played by Sudeikis).

I really enjoyed this movie and it treated the subject of racism both in the United States at that time and the racism in Germany very well.

Eddie the Eagle

On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, I went to see the movie Eddie the Eagle, featuring Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton.  The movie is based upon the story of Eddie Edwards, the underdog British ski jumper in the 1988 Calgary Olympics.

This movie was a movie about determination, overcoming obstacles and believing in oneself.  A perfect example of someone who never gave up and stopped believing in his abilities.  A feel good movie.

And Hugh Jackman is looking mighty fine too in his harness boots and jeans.

Mermaid (Mei ren yu)

On Tuesday, March 8, 2016, I went to see the movie Mermaid (Mei ren yu), the latest creation by Stephen Chow.  This movie is about self-made millionaire, Liu Xuan who purchases a piece of land where there is also lots of ocean.  He was going to build something there.  However, he meets a mermaid, Shan, who was supposed to kill Lin Xuan.  But, she ends up falling in love with him instead.

A full-fledged comedy with a bit of action at the end.  But an overall feel good funny movie with a message that is sent...  That we have to treat our environment better, because once there is no more clean water, no more fresh air, what will we do with our money?
