The Boss Baby

On Tuesday, May 30, 2017, I went to see the movie The Boss Baby featuring Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Kimmel and Tobey Maguire.  The movie is about Tim, who is used to being an only child.  Then one day, he sees that he gets a baby brother.  However, there was something off with this baby.  He's in a suit, he calls all the shots and Tim overhears the baby talking on the phone about some mission.

What follows are shenanigans and antics, but eventually, Tim and the Boss Baby team up together.  They discover that there's a company, Puppy Co., who is taking all the love from the world, including babies..  So, Boss Baby's mission was to figure out what the latest puppy is and he has to stop it.

What happens?  You'll have to watch the movie to find out.  There were quite a few laughs with this one.  It's worth the time to watch on the big screen.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2

On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, I went to see the movie Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, featuring Christ Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradle Cooper (voice acting), Vin Diesel (voice acting), Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell.

This movie takes off where the last one leaves off, with the Guardians fighting and protecting things...  And of course, them up to their old shenanigans.  Of course, the most challenging part in all this is that Groot hangs along.  However, he's a baby, so everyone's trying to protect him while fighting all the dangers.

I won't go into the story too much here, because it kind of gives it away.  However, this was the first sci-fi movie that made me cry.  The ending was phenomenal.  And lots of greatly written lines and really funny comments.

And make sure you stick around after when the credits are rolling.  There are five additional scenes that "didn't make it into the movie", but add to it significantly.  My favourite is scene #4.

Bon Cop, Bad Cop 2

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017 I went to see the movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop 2.  This movie features Colm Feore, Patric Huard, Lucie Laurier and a whole bunch of other Quebecois stars.

This movie takes place eight years after the first one, where Martin Ward (Feore) and David Bouchard (Huard) meet unforeseen at a bust.  They team up together to bust a car ring.  However, something more sinister is uncovered and they have to work together to stop the bigger plan from unfoiling.

Very few series are able to accomplish this, but this chapter is actually better than the previous one.  I highly recommend it.  And if you are a Montrealer and/or knowledged in Quebecois French, this is a must see!  You'll have lots of laughs!

Maudie

On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, I went to see the movie Maudie, featuring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke.  This movie is based on the life of Maud Lewis, a painter who later suffered arthritis.  She responded to an ad by Everett Lewis, who was looking for a live-in or a keep house.  They later married.

This was a very well done, art house film.  Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke both did an amazing job in their respective roles.  And I really enjoyed how the story was developed and we learned how Maud took up painting.

I highly recommend that you see this movie.
