The Battle of the Sexes

On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, I went to see the movie The Battle of the Sexes, featuring Steve Carrell, Emma Stone, Sarah Silverman, Alan Cumming and Austin Stowell.

The movie is based on the real story of female tennis star Billie Jean King as well as male ex tennis star Bobby Riggs, also a hustler, and their famous man vs. woman match.

Billie Jean King isa feminist and a fight for LGBTQ rights.  Though the movie does not focus on that part of her life, they make brief mention to it.  The focus is mainly her match with Bobby Riggs, known as the Battle of the Sexes.

The Mountain Between Us

On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I went to see the movie The Mountain Between Us, featuring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba.

The movie is about Alex Martin, a reporter and photographer played by Kate Winslet and Ben Bass, a neurosurgeon played by Idris Elba, who get stranded together.

They both end up at the airport in Idaho and all planes are grounded.  Both of them need to go to their respective locations the next day.  Bass had an important surgery to perform and Martin was getting married.

Martin decides to hire a private small plain to fly them to another airport that doesn't have flights grounded so they can go home.  But of course, they crash.

What happens?  You'll have to watch to find out.

I thought the survival parts were done well.  But when they threw in the romance bit...  Not so sure.

Victoria and Abdul

On Tuesday, October 10, 2017, I went to see the movie Victoria and Abdul, featuring Judi Dench, Eddie Izzard and Ali Fazal.  This movie is based on the story of Queen Victoria, played by Dench and her loyal servant, Abdul Karim, who later becomes her teacher of Urdu, etc.

A very well done movie with very fine acting.  Some really funny moments.  And well acted discrimination against the Indians.

Kingsmen: The Golden Circle

On Tuesday, October 3, 2017 I went to see the movie Kingsmen:  The Golden Circle.  This movie features Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry and Julianne Moore.

This movie takes off where the last one ended.  Charlie, a failed applicant for the Kingsmen, shows up to attack our main character, Eggsy.  A really huge fight ensues and eventually, Charlie's arm also acts as a laptop and hacks the system.  Allowing the villain, Poppy, played by Julianne Moore to destroy all the targets and the Kingsmen.  Luckily, Eggsy was at a supper with Princess Tilde's parents and Merlin was out.

This movie is even more ridiculous than the first one, but it was fun.  The action was great.
