On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, I went to see the movie
Crazy Rich Asians featuring Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Gemma Chen.
This movie is about Nick Young, played by Henry Golding, who is in New York City with Rachel Chu, played by Constance Wu, an Economics Professor. The story starts when Nick wants Rachel to accompany him to Singapore, his home city, where he has to attend his friend's wedding.
However, once Rachel gets to Singapore, she realizes that Nick is actually from a very wealthy family who is very prominent in Singapore and is known by practically everyone. So, that makes Nick the most eligible bachelor. And it makes all the jealous girls want to take Rachel down.
Then there is the family who struggles with Nick's choice of girlfriend. It also talks about Asian families, etc.
I think this movie was very well done. I appreciate the fact that it was actually done by Asian actors, so the casting is good. It's a movie with 95% Asians.
And it shows that Asians are real people too. That they are sexy, need intimacy and have sex. That they experience emotions. I really appreciated how this movie portrays Asian men in sexual roles and positions and highlights how sexy Asian men are. It also portrays how sexy Asian women are, but I think that's a little bit less needed, since they are so fetishized.
