Anniversary of Matthew Shephard's murder

I received an e-mail today that reminded me of the fact that October 12 is the anniversary of Matthew Shephard's death. He was the gay student who was found beaten near consciousness in Wyoming and left to die.

It is amazing that we're in the year 2006, and social justice issues such as equal rights for gays and lesbians are still being fought for. What's even more scary is that there are religious Bible thumpers like Phelps who "do everything in God's will" to keep marginalized people out of power or from achieving equal status. We still have lots of work to do.
