Came across a poll

I came across a poll today regarding giving an automatic life sentence to someone who commits murder, regardless of mental state. This was proposed by the family who lost a son to someone on the Greyhound bus.

Though I do sympathize with them for having lost their son, I don't agree with this. This is a very "eye for an eye" approach. The last thing we need in this world is more eye for an eye vengeance.

Terminator Salvation

On Tuesday, July 28, 2009 I went to see the movie Terminator Salvation.

The movie features Christian Bale as John Connor.

There are lots of explosions in this movie... It is worth it to see all those explosions on the big screen.

I don't really follow the Terminator storyline, but it was entertaining. Marcus Wright, played by Sam Worthington, was a nice added touch to the film. Nice eye candy.

Angels and Demons

On Tuesday, July 21, 2009, I went to see the movie Angels and Demons. The book based on another of Dan Brown's novels...

It features Tom Hanks as Professor Langden again, but this time around there are other stars... For example, Ewen McGregor as Carmelengo and Stellan Skarsgard as Commander Richter.

This was more action packed than Da Vinci Code. However, it was also more bloody at parts. It wasn't blood and gore, but there was a bit of blood. Tastefully done, I suppose.

The only thing is that, even though I didn't read the book, I was able to call the villain about 1/3 of the way into the movie.

Chéri

On Tuesday, July 7, 2009, I went to see the film Chéri. It's based on the two books, Chéri and La fin de Chéri by Colette. I suppose that the movie combined these two in one.

The story is about a woman who lived in the late 19th century and early 20th century who was a sexual trade worker. I think there was a special name for that, but I don't know it...

She ends up spending 6 years with this boy whom she called Chéri.

A period piece, I suppose and enjoyable. However, not supremely realistic, as it's all in English and I think the original book was set in France. Oh well, such is life... It's fun though. I like fun movies like this.
