The Last Song

On Tuesday, April 27, 2010 I went to see the movie The Last Song, featuring Greg Kinnear, Miley Cyrus. This movie was based upon the book by Nicholas Sparks.

The movie is about Ronny, and her brother Jonas who spend the summer at their father's house since their parents are divorced.

During the summer, Ronny meets a local boy and develops a summer romance. Of course, there are other things that happen as well, beside the summer romance.

Avatar

On Tuesday, April 20, 2010, I went to see the movie Avatar. I watched this in Real 3D.

The story takes place in the future where the humans have access to space travel and here was the possibility of working on a distant planet, Pandora. There's a mineral on Pandora that sells for 20 million per pound.

There's a civilization of "savages" on this planet and the humans are trying to get them to move from their place of habitation because the strongest bit of this mineral is found underneath. This begins a conflict where the humans destroy a whole bunch of nature.

There is also a bit of romance there as well.

It was an okay movie. I wasn't the best piece of cinema out there, but it is not terrible.

Repo Men

On Tuesday, April 13, 2010, I went to see the movie Repo Men, featuring Forrest Whitaker, Jude Law and Liev Schreiber.

The movie is about a future where the government has declared bankruptcy and health care is in shambles. So, a corporation called The Union stepped in and created artifogs, which are state of the art Artificial organs.

Jude Law plays the character of Remy, who's a Repo Man. The Union, just like all other companies, repossess the item in question that is overdue in payment. On one of his jobs, there was a malfunction on this artificial defibrillator and it causes him to have a new heart put in.

However, after this happens, he has difficulty with his job. He cannot stabilize and do his job to repossess organs. Since he does not bring in any repossessed organs, he cannot keep up with payments on his own organ... So, this starts the journey of him trying to get himself out of the system, etc.

This movie is a lot more bloody than what I am used to. I was not used to seeing incisions and cuts into the body with a lot of blood.

Jude Law was very muscular and hot though, in this movie.

Crazy Heart

On Tuesday, April 6, 2010, I went to see the movie Crazy Heart. It's the story based on a book that's based upon some country singer. Jeff Bridges was in it and lots of people said that he was great in it. I thought I'd give it a try.

The music was okay. I am not a huge fan of country, but that music was tolerable. I knew that Colin Ferrell was in it.

I haven't read the book, so I cannot tell you how true it is to the book, but it was an enjoyable film. A light film, one that is different than what I would usually watch, where the music was different. An enjoyable substitute to A Single Man (which is no longer in Montreal - Grrrr!)

Resurrection?

Today, I went to Tim Horton's to get a coffee with my friend and while I was sitting there, talking to him, minding my own business, a man of African descent came to shake my hand. He was quite clearly inebriated and I didn't understand a word he was saying. I feigned the fact that I needed to catch the bus and left the premises.

I hope that this was not the Resurrection of Jesus... If it were, I would probably end up in hell since I did not show him any hospitality...
