Mao's Last Dancer

On Tuesday, June 15, 2010 I went to see the movie Mao's Last Dancer.

This movie is based on an autobiography about a Chinese ballet dancer who caught the eye of the director of the Houston Ballet Director. He invites him to go to Houston and stay for a summer and dance for them. However, things take an unexpected turn. He falls in love with local girl who dreams of dancing for the Houston ballet.

The artistic director wanted him to stay longer, but the VISA for the ballet dancer was expired and the application for it to be extended was denied.

The movie was beautifully done, touches many issues, but doesn't get in your face about many of these issues. The scenery is also very nice.
