Love, Simon
On Saturday, March 17, 2018, I went to see the movie Love, Simon featuring Nick Robinson, Talitha Eliana Bateman, Jennifer Gardner and Josh Duhamel. The story is about Simon who appears to be a regular teenager. Likes teenager things, like movies, music, friends, hanging out and is going to school. He's in his graduating year. The only thing is that Simon is gay. He is uncomfortable with being out at school, as he sees an out kid at school by the name of Ethan and he gets constantly harassed by the school bullies.
All of a sudden, someone at school comes out on a blog anonymously. This person goes by the name of Blue. Simon decides to e-mail Blue and let him know that he too is gay. He chooses the name Jacques to sign off the e-mails, because in French it's (Jacques a dit for Simon says). The movie goes through the year of Blue and Simon e-mailing each other back and forth, with Simon trying to figure out who Blue is.
Unfortunately, while using a school computer to e-mail Blue, Simon leaves his e-mail open and an awkward classmate, Martin, takes screenshots of them. He then uses this to blackmail Simon into helping him get closer to his friend Abby, whom he finds hot. The thing is that Abby is getting close to Nick. But he reluctantly goes along because he is afraid of being outed by Martin.
What happens? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.
This movie, while it won't win any Oscars, will definitely make you laugh, make you tear up (possibly cry, I had a few parts of being teary eyed and I heard people sniffling in the theatre) and make you think (as well as a whole bunch of other emotions). Which I believe is very good, considering that this is a light movie. Usually, it's the artsy dramatic films that make you laugh, cry and think.
