Teacher, I salute you

I stumbled across this article on Yahoo.

This is the type of teacher that gay students would have dreamed of having while they were figuring out their sexuality. This is the type of teacher whom I would have appreciated when I was in school and this is the type of teacher that I aspire to be.

Gay teens have to suffer in silence because apparently it is still okay to discriminate against someone for their sexual orientation, when it is clearly stated in most places it is not okay. However, actions speak louder than words. A lot of teachers do not combat homophobia in the classroom and let lots of homophobic comments slide.

We need more teachers like this in our classrooms, regardless of elementary or high school.
