This thing has gotten out of hand
I just read on the news that the Minister of Education, Line Beauchamp, has resigned from politics. She no longer believes that she is part of the solution.
For the longest time, I have been supportive of the striking students. I understand what it is to go through university studies and end up with debt to pay off. I get it. I'm still paying that debt right now. I understand that even with the proposed increase, it is still the lowest tuition in Canada. I believe that there must be some middle ground between constant tuition freeze and leaving your studies with a loan that you must pay back which is in the amount of a down payment for a house.
However, this has gone off way too long and it's enough!
This resignation, which in my opinion is scapegoating, was the last straw that broke the camel's back.
Last Thursday as well, striking students set off smoke bombs in the metro system during the height of the morning rush hour. I was a bit annoyed, but I still supported the students. However, after today, I am no longer in support of students. (Also, there have been vigils outside of our palais de justice for the students who set off the smoke bombs. Are you fucking joking?!! They disrupted the whole metro system during rush hour, when people in support like me are trying to go to work so that we can get money and help pay collectively for a more affordable post-secondary education)
These students are way too greedy. The government wanted to have a temporary settlement so that their sessions can be saved and then they would continue to negotiate. What did these punkasses do? They rejected the offer. Now, they are demanding free schooling, like many places in Europe.
This is a classic case of entitlement. The government gives an inch, these enfants gâtés want a yard. No one is listening to each other.
In other parts of the world, the protests were because of democratic issues. Here, they are having a demonstration because of school fees!!! How dumb is that?!! These students need a reality check. Prices go up, it's part of life.
If the students' battle were not for just school fees, but the whole upset of the economic system: (Top 1% occupies 99% of the wealth and the other 99% of the world only occupies 1% of the wealth). I would support them. However, it is not about that. These bastards want free schooling for themselves. I have been in support of them ever since the beginning. I own a red square from two years ago when there was a similar movement.
However, based on their entitlement, I am now going to remove my red square. In fact, I'm very tempted to put on a green square.
These students need to fucking wake up and smell the coffee... And not the $5 kind that they get at Starbucks. If they piss me off even more, I might not be so opposed to the idea of having their heads on pikes. Fucking entitled pricks!!!

Line Beauchamp resigning is what made you change your mind so radically? Really? That's... weird.
That was just Jean Charest trying to say this whole mess was her fault, that now that she's gone everything is going to be better. It was a total gimmick and nothing really changed. The problem is with Charest, not the people who take orders from him.
You really think the world is a worse place now that Line is gone?
The problem is that no one is listening to anyone. The government isn't listening and the students are not listening either. Line had her hands tied. She really couldn't do anything. All she could do was just negotiate.
Personally, I think what needs to happen is the injection of the proposed raise into the university system AND a complete analysis of the management of the universities because I don't want a vacuum cleaner effect for the money that the students would inject into the school system.
