Saving Mr. Banks

On Tuesday, January 7, 2014, I went to see the movie Saving Mr. Banks.  This movie features Tom Hanks, Paul Giamatti, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson.

Emma Thompson plays P.L. Travers, the author of the Mary Poppins books.  She is practically bankrupt, so she decides to take Walt Disney's offer on selling him the rights to her book.  But only after she has had final say on the movie and the script.

When she finally goes to Los Angeles for two weeks, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops to try and get her to sign over the rights. A good movie that shows the behind the scenes on how the modern Mary Poppins came to play.
