The Grand Budapest Hotel
On Tuesday, April 1, 2014, I went to see the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. This is the latest Wes Anderson movie and has a huge slew of stars.
The story starts with the untimely death of Madame D. (played by Tilda Swinton), who was a frequent guest at The Grand Budapest Hotel. She goes there often, because her lover, Gustave H. (played by Ralph Fiennes) is the head concierge there.
Since Madame D. has passed, they needed to do the last will and testament of Madame D. And at this time, all of her family and extended family and relatives with very little relation show up... But things get complicated because the lawyer who was in charge of the estate is following the rules... And needs to examine documents, etc. This displeases Dimitri, played by Adrien Brody.
Of course, Dimitri uses some pretty underhanded tactics to get what he wants, as he has his henchman Jopling, played by Willem Dafoe, to achieve it. This mostly involves killing people.
What happens? You'll have to watch it to find out. And you will meet all these other characters and see how they tie into the story.
I really enjoyed this movie. I thought I had never seen a Wes Anderson film before, but it turns out I had... I had watched the Darjeeling Limited. But I don't think I enjoyed it as much.
