The Hundred Foot Journey

On Tuesday, August 19, 2014, I went to see the movie The Hundred Foot Journey, featuring Helen Mirren and Om Puri.

The story is about an Indian family who had to flee Indian due to political issues.  They first settled in London to try and eek out a living there, but they did not like the environment, so they went to France.  They found a restaurant for sale there, so they purchased it and decided to try and make a living as an Indian restaurant in a little village of France.

However, their location is across from a really well established restaurant with one star.  They have been around for quite some time and is run efficiently by Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren).

Of course, Madame Mallory and the father (Om Puri) clash at the beginning and they have a rough time with starting the restaurant, but during this time, we discover that the son who's responsible for the cooking at the Indian restaurant, one of his two sons, actually has a gift in cuisine and once he gets a chance to cook for Madame Mallory, she agrees to take her on in her kitchen, which opens doors for him in the world of international cooking.

What happens in the end?  You'll have to watch the movie to find out.  This was a very well done movie, and Helen Mirren is excellent in it.  As usual.
