An interesting rediscovery
The first CD I bought was by The Vengaboys... OK, let me rephrase that. The first non-classical CD I bought was by The Vengaboys. They started off with The Party Album and then they released The Platinum Album.
On their second album (The Platinum Album), I rediscovered a song called Uncle John from Jamaica. The lyrics really describe my job situation right now.
Eight o'clock wake up get out of bed
Feel like a truck ran over my head
Another day of stress and sorrow
Skip breakfast 'cause I got to go
Ain't got no time to take it slow
And I will do my hair tomorrow
I can take it no more, oh no no no
Is this what I'm living for?
Chorus:
But my Uncle John from Jamaica, keeps on calling everyday
Just buy a ticket and take a summer holi-holiday
My Uncle John from Jamaica, keeps on calling everyday
Just buy a ticket and take a summer holi-holiday
Na-na-na...
Six o'clock my job is still not done
The life I'm living ain't no fun
Too many days of stress and sorrow
My boss just won't give me a break
And this is more than I can take
Think I will quit this job tomorrow
I can take it no more, oh no no no
Is this what I'm living for?
Chorus
Na-na-na...
I need a holi-holiday
You need a holi-holiday
We need a holi-holiday
Everybody needs a holi-holiday
Enough said. I never thought a Eurodance song would hit the nail right on the head about how I feel about my job at the present moment.

What's your job? You're not still teaching are you?
Yup teaching. I like what I do in the classroom, it's the politics that get in the way... Private school, a very different environment.
