Life As We Know It
On Tuesday, November 23, 2010, I went to see the movie Life As We Know It, featuring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel.
Katherine Heigl plays the character of Holly, who's a professional baker and chef. At the beginning of the movie, she is set up on a blind date with Josh Duhamel's character, Eric, or known as Messer. They were set up by their mutual friends, Peter and Alison Novak.
The blind date is disastrous. However, this is the first time that they have met. We see this relationship develop as their mutual friends, who are married, are expecting a child. We also see that they have a disdain for each other and they make comments at each other's expense.
The unthinkable happens. Peter and Alison both pass away in a car accident. And... As their last will and testament, they have named Holly and Messer as the guardian of their child, Sophie.
Once they have learned about this, they spend time learning about the baby and taking care of her... They have to learn to get along with each other, for the sake of the baby...
What happens at the end? You'll have to watch the movie to find out. I am starting to appreciate Katherine Heigl more and more... She's no Kate Winslet, at least not yet, but she always surprises me whenever I see her act. I haven't seen Killers, the movie before this one that she did with Ashton Kutcher (and I am in no hurry to watch it), so I can't vouch for her acting in that one, but I think she did a good job with this movie.
