Prisoners

On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, I went to see the movie Prisoners featuring Hugh Jackman, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano.

This movie is about two suburban families, the Dovers and the Birchs, who have each a young daughter.

It's Thanksgiving and there is a dinner at the Birch residence.  The Dovers go over with a fresh kill of deer for the meal.  Before dinner, the two girls go outside and are accompanied by the elder Dover brother and the Birch sister.  The two girls get fascinated with this RV who is driving slowly in the neighbourhood.  The two older siblings carry them back to the house for dinner.

After dinner, the two young ones say they are going to go to the Dover residence to search for a lost bird whistle.  This was lost by the younger Dover daughter, Anna.  However, they were discovered to be lost and nowhere to be found a short while later.

The case gets reported to the police and we have Detective Loki, played by Gyllenhaal, assigned to the case.

What happens?  You'll have to watch the movie to find out.

Personally for me, I don't feel the movie was well done.  I mean, the acting was great.  Hugh Jackman, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano all played their roles very well.  However, I feel that this was a result of BAD parenting.  The girls should have never been let out in the first place, even under the guidance of their older siblings...  Dinner was almost ready.  Also, they climbed onto a stranger's RV...  Didn't these idiot girls learn that you should not approach strangers?  Ever heard of the "Don't take candy from strangers" rule?

Secondly, they asked to leave again after dinner.  They were supposed to get their older siblings, but they did not.  And they clearly didn't go to the house to find the whistle...  Or if they did, they decided that it was okay to take a detour and climb/ride in the RV again.

So, idiot girls caused this unnecessary drama that wasted taxpayer's money, because the police were out looking for them.  Of course, if they were well behaved little girls that actually listened to their parents, none of this would have occurred.
