Abu: Father
On Tuesday, April 17, 2018 I went to see the movie Abu: Father, which is written by Arshad Khan. This is a somewhat autobiographic tale of his childhood, his moving to Canada and his life, along with how it intertwines with his father's life, his mother's life and his siblings' life. As well as his coming of age and embracing his homosexuality.
I watched the movie dubbed in Hindi and Urdu, with English subtitles, thinking that's how the movie was originally done. However, I think the original was done in English.
This was a very well done movie. Arshad Khan really opened himself up to the movie goer in this movie as well as his life and how he gets along (or sometimes not get along) with his family. He also highlights many issues with North American, Canadian society, both gay and straight.
A powerful piece of cinematography. I wouldn't mind seeing it again, but this time, in English.
